| 11:00am – 1:00pm | Early Registration/ Exhibits |
| 1:00pm – 5:00pm | Cardiology: What Am I Missing? |
| Cardiology has seen numerous changes in procedural coding perspective in the past 3 years. You have seen and heard about considerable information those. The issues that remain for the cardiology coder/biller go beyond simple code changes. Getting physicians to code for co-morbidities, HCC considerations, l and diagnostic specificity are some of the challenges facing the cardiology office/department billing area to name a few. Remember to also factor in the need for ICD-10 education as we approach the 2013 deadline. Lastly, has your practice been approached to become involved in sleep studies? All these topics and your questions will be answered in this pre-conference Cardiology What am I Missing? event. | |
| Presenter: | Jill Young, CPC®, CEDC™, CIMC™ |
| 2:45pm – 3:00pm | Refreshment Break/ Exhibits |
| Main Conference Sessions Day 1 – Friday, December 2, 2011 | |
| 8:00am – 9:00am | Registration/ Refreshments/ Exhibits |
| 9:00am – 10:00am | Cardiac Imaging 101 |
| Learn about coding for the various types of cardiac imaging, from echocardiography and nuclear medicine to CT and MRI. We’ll discuss the specific issues revolving around each modality, such as documentation concerns and LCDs/NCDs. You’ll learn how to accurately code these complex studies appropriately every time. | |
| Presenter: | Stacy Gregory, CPC®, CCC™, RCC |
| 10:00am-10:15am | Refreshment Break/ Exhibits |
| 10:15am-12:15pm | Peripheral Vascular Coding Tactics |
| In this session, work your way through peripheral vascular op reports to be sure you’ve nailed the rules for services such as angiography, angioplasty, atherectomy, and stent placement. But be prepared. Not all of these reports will be crystal clear. Our expert will point out the documentation problem areas and what your practice can do to prevent them. | |
| Presenter: | Stacy Gregory, CPC®, CCC™, RCC |
| 12:15pm – 1:15pm | Lunch/ Exhibits |
| 1:15pm-3:15pm | Maximize your Non-Physician Practitioners -in the Office and in the Hospital |
| More practices are looking to “mid-levels” or “NPP’s” to allow physicians to concentrate on new patient’s and procedures while continuing to manage existing patients. Find out more about split shared visits vs incident to services, pitfalls in cardiology for NPP and how to avoid them, and best model to use for your NPP. | |
| Presenter: | Jill Young, CPC®, CEDC™, CIMC™ |
| 3:15pm-3:30pm | Refreshment Break/ Exhibits |
| 3:30pm-4:30pm | Mastering Endovascular Aneurysm Repair |
| Endovascular aneurysm repair coding is complex. It involves many components, and often requires the work of 2 physicians. In this session, familiarize yourself with the terminology that will let you tackle these difficult cases with ease. Review common operative scenarios and learn how to prevent documentation issues. | |

| 9:00am – 10:00am | Cath Coding 2012 Updates – Let’s Scrub In |
| Ever wonder what you’re coding? Let’s scrub in to the cath lab and watch actual procedures: coronary angiographys, LV Grams, angioplastys and stent placments. Then, it’s time to put on the thinking caps and code actual case studies. | |
| Presenter: | Vicki Pappas, CPC® |
| 10:00am-10:15am | Refreshment Break/ Exhibits |
| 10:15am-11:15am | It’s Electrifying…EP Coding 2012 Updates |
| Have you heard the buzz? EP escaped changes in 2011, but word is the changes have arrived for 2012. Join the presenter as she goes over the coding updates for 2012. If time permits, videos will be shown of ICD/PM implantation, EPS, and ablations | |
| Presenter: | Vicki Pappas, CPC® |
| 11:15am-12:15pm | Utilization, Justification and Documentation in the Cath/EP Labs |
| Why?…Why?….Why?…. I’m sure we’ve heard this question many times when we’ve asked physicians for additional/better documentation. Though we’d like to respond “because I said so” we all know we can’t. Find out what’s behind the “Why” in this discussion on documentation. We’ll take a look at “good” and “not so good” reports. | |
| Presenter: | Vicki Pappas, CPC® |
