  How often does your ASC coding selections differ from the physician’s code selections due to documentation questions and/or deficiencies? Deficient documentation could result in erroneous payments, reimbursement delays or denials. Learn the ” how, what, when, and whys” to the query process, the financial impact when questionable operative documentation is not clarified, as well as review samples of correct versus incorrect physician queries.

  Many of the recent overpayments, audits, civil false claims act and even criminal cases instituted by the federal and state agencies overseeing the Medicare and Medicaid programs involve allegations of improper billing for non physician providers (NPPS) and “incident-to” services. In August 2009, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued a report titled: “Prevalence and Qualifications of Non Physicians Who Performed Medicare Physician Services”. Learn how to correctly report these services and bring home audit tools.
