As a Certified Professional Coder, you must submit
36 Continuing Education
Units (CEUs) every two years for
verification and authentication of expertise.
Coding Conferences is proud to work with the American Academy of Professional Coders, and to receive CEUs for our conferences from them. Each conference is different, and CEUs depend on content and duration of the conference.
Specialty specific credentialing is offered to Academy credentialed coders for evaluation and management, general surgery and obstetrics and gynecology. Each specialty credentialing exam has been designed to allow the coder the ability to demonstrate aptitude, proficiency and knowledge within that chosen area. Each specialty exam is comprised of 75 questions and will be administered online, producing instantaneous pass/fail results. Once a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H), or Certified Professional Coder-Payer (CPC-P) has passed a specialty exam, they will receive a specialty certificate and be awarded the appropriate credential. In preparation, the Academy, in cooperation with Ingenix, has produced an in-depth study guide for each specialty.
