Expert Speakers
 

Dr. Dennis Beck, MD, FACEP is President and CEO of Beacon Medical Services, an emergency medicine coding, billing and practice management company. Dr. Beck has an extensive clinical and administrative background. He has been a Medical Director for several emergency departments and most recently was Medical Director for Carepoint, an 8 hospital Denver based ED group. Dr. Beck is a past chair of ACEP’s Reimbursement Committee and currently is a member of that committee as well as ACEP’s Coding and Nomenclature Committee. He is currently the chair of ACEP’s Quality and Performance Committee. Dr. Beck is also an alternate member of the AMA Relative Value Update Committee (RUC). He has lectured extensively at ACEP conferences on coding and reimbursement topics as well as pay for performance (P4P). Dr Beck has worked with the AMA and CMS on developing and revising the emergency medicine PQRI measures and is actively involved in ACEP’s quality and P4P initiatives.

Carol Edelberg, CPC, CCS-P, CHC, President, Chief Executive Officer, is an active member of the numerous professional organizations. She is also past Chairman of the Physician Committee of the AAPC and a 20-year member of the Coding and Nomenclature Advisory Committee of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Caral co-authored the Emergency Medicine Study Guide and Emergency Medicine Specialty Examination for the ABMC and the Emergency Medicine Study Guide and Emergency Medicine Competency Examination for Ingenix/AAPC.

Kenneth Engel, CPC, CHC, ACS-EM, CCP is Vice President, Corporate Compliance Officer, and a founding associate of Martin Gottlieb and Associates, a company which provides coding and billing services for emergency physicians who cover 48 emergency departments from six states. As a software engineer, he worked to develop the company’s medical coding and billing software. With 15 years of experience in dealing with complex issues involving physician reimbursement, coding, and compliance, he now administers a corporate compliance program, researches and develops coding policy, performs medical reviews, and provides coding and documentation education to medical coders and physicians. He is also the founder and a past president of Jacksonville South Chapter of the AAPC in Florida.

Jeffrey Linzer Sr., MD, FAAP, FACEP
Dr. Linzer is associate medical director for compliance and business affairs, Emergency Pediatric Group, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Dr. Linzer is known nationally for his work in billing and coding and for resident education on the business of medicine. He is assistant professor of pediatrics and emergency medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, and member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Coding and Nomenclature, American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Committee on Nomenclature and Coding, and the editorial board for ICD-9-CM Coding Clinic.

 

Kevin Solinsky, CPC, AAPC approved PMCC Instructor has over 25 years in healthcare, first working clinically as a paramedic and both on an ambulance and then 12 years working in the emergency department. He has been teaching in healthcare for 16 years and has taught the PMCC program for the last 5 years. He is the CEO/President of Healthcare Coding Consultants, LLC. He is 2008 President of the Grand Canyon Coders, Central Phoenix local chapter of the AAPC.
